Outreach Support Program

Academic BINA members who are interested in sharing their love of microscopy with young scientists can request financial assistance to host an outreach event at their Institution. Event organizers will need to demonstrate that participants will be drawn from a wide range of backgrounds (e.g. grade school, undergraduate, graduate), with a view to engaging these communities to stimulate future imaging scientists. Members can apply for up to $500 USD to help defray costs of the event. It is largely at the discretion of the organizers* as to how the funds may be utilized and organizers should present a case for alignment of their event goals with BINA’s mission and values.

Your dissemination/advertising planning will be considered in the evaluation process.

*NOTE: Event funds cannot be used to purchase alcoholic beverages or provide prizes. If you have questions or concerns about other possible restrictions on how these funds can be used please contact us.

In exchange for BINA support, BINA requires at a minimum:

1. the BINA logo should be placed on the event flyer and/or website acknowledging support,
   and
2. A post-event report provided within a month of completion, with the following event-related participant demographic included, while maintaining participant anonymity;
   • Total number of participants,
   • Geographic home/regions of participants,
   • What the BINA support ultimately covered

If helpful, the BINA administrative team can assist with this data collection by sharing the types of questions we ask our own event participants, when we share the logo materials.

Applications for Outreach Support will be accepted on a rolling basis by submitting this form at least 2 months in advance of the event start date.

#NOTE: The BINA website and BINA membership is restricted to persons 18 years and old. Organizers should specify this if attendees are under 18 years of age.
