The BINA Image Informatics Working Group seeks to “accelerate the dissemination and lower barriers for adoption of best practices, tools and ideas related to all aspects of the life cycle of biological and biomedical imaging datasets. This would include computational challenges related to image acquisition, image visualization, image analysis, image storage and dissemination.”

A cross working group effort spearheaded by Beth Cimini in BINA’s Image Informatics working group and including a number of members of BINA’s Training and Education Working Group and other community stakeholders has produced this user friendly and beautifully illustrated guide to planning and performing quantitative bioimaging experiments. BINA Audio-Video Suitcase Parts List

BINA is piloting an AV Suitcase, spearheaded by the Image Informatics WG, for the production of high-quality tutorial videos around microscopy and image informatics topics. Recommended equipment for this project, compiled by Bryan Millis, is available for the community and continually being updated based on the pilot phase of this project.

I2K From Images to Knowledge

This virtual event will be held on May 6th, 9th and 10th, and feature talks and in-depth interactive workshops covering state-of-the-art open-source solutions for biological image reconstruction and analysis, as well as social interaction between developers, researchers, and students. It will be an event to learn about and discuss forward looking strategies for dealing with the ever-increasing amount of large and content rich microscopy imagery.

Tissue-Like 3D Standard and Protocols for Microscope Quality Management

This publication spearheaded by the ABRF Light Microscopy Research Group also involved BINA leadership and members of BINA Image Informatics, Corporate Partners and Training and Education working groups. The results present a novel 3D tissue-like biologically relevant standard sample that is affordable and straightforward to prepare.
